Szymon married Etta Nissenholz. Etta was born in 1863 in Proskorow, Ukraine, died in 1947 at age 84, and was buried in Warwick, Rhode Island.

General Notes: Harry ( Herseh Beck) arrived in New York, November 7, 1906.
In 1914, his brother Menachem, (MILTON) followed Harry to Providence, Rhode Island, where Harry was living at 128 North Main Street.
Isaac Beck ( IRA), who was 18 years old, arrived with Menachem, who was 27.
In 1921, Harry's father, SZYMON, age 57, ITA or ETA, age 55, brothers: Sruel, (ISRAEL), age 18, BENJAMIN, age 17, sister: BEIJLA, age, 21 ( Bella) arrived from Danzig on the GDANSK, April 27, 1921.
There were two sisters in the Ukraine, Fayge Miriam and Chava, who died while young.
Harry arrived on the ship COLUMBIA, departing from Glascow to Ellis Island, and located in Providence, Rhode Island, where he had relatives.

My father, Ira Beck, was born August 7, 1896 in a small village near Proskorow which was near Kiev in the Ukraine. In 1914 when he was 18 years old he came to the US. He landed in New York and then went to live in Providence because his older brother Harry lived there. In 1920 he got the opportunity to come South to Mississippi to manage a store owned by a first cousin. He later moved to Brookhaven, Mississippi. He and my mother, Hilda Katz Beck married in Jan. 1933. I was born onNov. 16, 1933 and my sister Faye Beck Friedman was born Nov.18,1936. In Brookhaven, Dad had a dry goods business (like a small department store). When Dad retired he and Mom moved to New Orleans where Mom was from. Then they moved to West Palm Beach, FL where I lived at the time. After the death of my first husband I married Martin Aaron from Birmingham, AL in (1974) Mom and Dad moved to Birmingham when I did. My sister Faye had lived in Birmingham since her marriage in 1956. Dad died on July 26,1986. He was 89 years old. He was a wonderful person, intellilgent, witty, very loyal to family. Judaism and Israel were very imlportant to him. He was optimistic and adjusted well to new locations and situations. I miss him very much.

General Notes: Dr Irving Addison Beck graduated from Brown University in 1932, Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. Member of the debating team and Phi Beta Kappa.
He graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1936 with highest academic honors.
Completed residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in 1939.
In WWII, Dr Beck was a captain and head of laboratory services in the 48th Evacuation Hospital from Rhode Island, in the India, China, Burma theater.

In 1986, he received the "Ralph O. Claypool Award" from the American Academy of Physicians. He was a member of the Francis Countway Library of Medicine in Boston, the John Russell Bartlett Society, the John Carter Brown Library, the Grolier Club and the Italian History Club.
Dr Beck was an Internist with a specialty in Cardiology.
He stayed in Rhode Island all his life

Irving married Edith Elizabeth Woodhead, daughter of Samuel Woodhead and Annie Gee, on 22 Jun 1945 in Providence. Edith was born on 31 Jan 1914 in Pawtucket. R.I., died on 24 Oct 2000 in Belmont Manor, Belmont, Massachusetts at age 86, and was buried in Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick, R.I.. The cause of her death was unspecified causes.

14 M i. Stephen Milton Beck was born on 15 Sep 1946 in Providence, Rhode Island, died on 17 Mar 1980 in Boston, Mass. St Elizabeth Hospital at age 33, and was buried in Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick, R.I..

8. Maurice Beck was born in 1917 in Providence, Rhode Island and died on 11 Mar 2002 in Okemos , Mich at age 85.

General Notes: Maurice Beck held many prominent positions in Human Services in Michigan. He was an Executive Director of the Michigan League for Human Services. He was also on the Department of Social Services Advisory Council. He was a field secretary with the Bureau of Community Council Help and Welfare Association of Pittsburgh, Pa. He was also a president of the Michigan Society of Gernotology and an active member of the Kiwanis Club. Mr Beck was stricken with Parkinsons and became an advocate for stem cell research which may eventually lead to a cure for Parkinsons Disease.
