Woodhead, Gee, Beck Family Tree
Henry, Lizzie, Joyce and Eric Woodhead
A little about my English Woodheads. I have traced my line of Woodheads back to the 1700's in Cumberworth/Kirkburton, Silkstone, Almondbury, West Yorkshire. My grandfather was Samuel Woodhead,b. 1888, of Stalybridge, Dukinfield, in Cheshire. Samuel was the son of Henry Woodhead, 1859, and Nancy Armstead. Henry's father, George Woodhead, b.1826, was born in Cumberworth, West Yorkshire. His wife was Sarah Taylor, also from Cumberworth, but living in Stalybridge at the time Henry was born. The Woodheads were educators, farmers, and merchants. My mother was Edith Woodhead and her sister was Dorothy.
My English Gee family records go back to the 1700's with the earliest Gee's in the Apethorn, Pinfold area, which is where the Romiley Country Club is currently. They were also in Gee Cross, Marple, Mellor, Werneth, Bredbury, Compstall, and Woodley ( which is where my grandmother) Annie Gee, the daughter of Edwin and Martha, was born 1890. Romiley is nearby Hyde and Stockport in Cheshire. The Gee's worked as coal miners, farmers, sea merchants, provision dealers and in the local woolen mills in Woodley. Annie was the only surviving child of Edwin and Martha Gee.
My Becks were from Proskurow in the Ukraine. My grandparents arrived in Rhode Island in the early 1900's. My grandfather, Harry ( Hershel ) Beck, was a printer. The rest of the family Ira, Sruel, Benjamin and Milton, plus their parents, Simon and Etta Beck arrived in the 1920's.
My husbands', Brian Swartz, family were from Pesaro in Italy. The family names are Travaligni and Baldelli. His father's family were Knurowski from Knurow in Poland. The name Knurowski was later changed to Swartz. His other grandparents were also from Poland and named Jaworek. They settled in Central Massachusetts.
